Bantam recently sent over the proposed cover copy for PRODIGAL. Believe it or not, they have professional blub writers who do this sort of thing full time–a precarious job, if there ever was one. Imagine having to please editors, publishers AND egotistical authors at the same time. So here’s to you, Mr. Blurb Writer! We hope they make a beer commercial about you someday.

To New York, that is! I just finished the final polish on PRODIGAL today and sent it off to Bantam. As I mentioned in my previous post, there was quite a bit of cutting involved–almost a hundred pages, if you toss in the two previous drafts. Hell, if I’d been that economical from the start, I would’ve finished the dang thing a lot sooner!

So now the manuscript weighs in at a (still) hefty 507 pages. That’s ...

After a couple of solid weeks of work, I’m almost finished with the first editorial pass at PRODIGAL. Only have one more chapter and a short epilogue to go–which ain’t too shabby, considering that this is the holiday season. Not to worry, though. I stayed off the beer while I was slicing and dicing.
