Brew Christmas 2006

Here in the States, another Thanksgiving has come and gone. That means a lot of turkey hangovers out there–not to mention the inevitable leftovers from the holiday feast. Fortunately, in my house, that includes a number of fine beers that somehow didn’t get consumed during the free-for-all around the dinner table! Of course, me shuffling them to the back of the fridge might have had something to do with it… 😀

In addition to all the familiy traditions and revelry, one ...

In Memoriam

Posted by:

Last week, I received word from my agent Kimberley Cameron that her business partner and friend of many years, Dorris Halsey, had suddenly passed away. Dorris had been something of a legend in literary circles and in the Hollywood community for some time–an agent who had represented the likes of Aldous Huxley, Henry Miller and Upton Sinclair, and was famous in her own right for her style and panache.

Since my main contact has been with Kimberley, I didn’t ...

That’s right. I’m talking about iTunes.

I found out the hard ...

…but I like it.

All right, maybe like is too strong a word.  Call it a strange fascination.  Brain candy, if you will.  A way to put the mind on cruise control for a while.  Over the last few days it has become something of a habit–just me and my daughter Lexie, curled up on the couch, watching a roster of bizarre yet mesmerizing shows:  That’s So Raven.  Phil of the Future.  Hannah Montana.  And, of course, the incomparable Suite Life ...

Writers Behaving Badly

Posted by:

Since I come from a journalism background, I spent a lot of years getting pounded with warnings about plagiarism. It was, at least at the time, considered the cardinal sin of writing, one which would brand a scarlet “P” on your shirt and get your fanny tossed out of college without so much as a backward glance.

Flash forward a few years, and my how things have changed. The latest rage comes over the story of Kaavya Viswanathan, that ...
