Forget the Xbox 360. The holiday must have of the season is Scaldis Noel, a beer so special that it’s now seriously impossible to find anywhere around here. I first got into this lush libation around 4 years ago, when the proprietor of my local beer emporium recommended it. Since then, I’ve awaited its release every year like a cult following, counting down the days until it appeared on the shelf. What’s more is that my wife is crazy about it too. Last year, Scaldis didn’t release the Noel–and the year before that, my wife was pregnant with our son, so you can imagine that we were really jazzed when this year rolled around.
Well, I managed to track down the last three bottles in town today. Naturally, they didn’t last very long. Not to worry, though–I still have some Allagash Tripel and a bottle of Unibroue Edition 2004 to ring in Christmas Eve, so we should all be making merry.
The presents are wrapped, the kids are excited, and Santa is on his way. Hope everybody out there has a fabulous holiday weekend, filled with love, laughter–and some pretty good beer!
